Psychotherapy

Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a confidential setting in order to provide the client with support, to help them explore their experience in relation to the problems of their day to day living.

Here in Templerainey Holistic Therapies our Counsellors/Psychotherapist are fully trained to listen carefully to the clients problems and to support them while they find their own solution.

The Counsellors/Psychotherapist will also maintain a sensible regard for the clients beliefs and values and work in ways to promote their personal autonomy.

Therapy will give the client an opportunity to explore their past in order to gain insight in to what is preventing them from leading a satisfying life and becoming the person they are capable of being.

Counselling/Psychotherapy is a way of enabling choice, change, or reducing confusion. It does not involve giving advice or directing the client to take a particular course of action. We do not judge and all sessions are held in strict confidence .

All our Counsellors/Psychotherapist  are members of, and adhere to the ethical guidlines of one of the main  associations for counsellors/psychotherapist. Examples of these are, IACP, BACP or IAHIP

Psychotherapy differs from Counselling when the Counsellor/psychotherapist helps the client identify a pattern of thinking or behaving that has caused recurring issues or difficulties in the person’s emotional or behavioural world. Together the therapist and client look at how these thinking styles and behaviours developed and explores effective ways of adapting or changing these patterns in order for the client to gain more positive control in their lives.
